RestorationAD
Next is smoothing things out. I use a regular hand drill with a 5" disk and 120 grit paper for this.

RestorationAD
I have just enough time left today to do a rough carve on one of the necks. I will finish it up once the neck is set and I can work the heal transition.
Prostheta
Are we going to need to have an SG-off? <edit: wrote "RG" instead of "SG">
RestorationAD
RG... SG... Don't make me paint them both Neon. This SG will be nothing special so no reason to get all competitive... I guess I could peel a layer off the top and put a maple burl cap on it and carve the crap out of it.
Prostheta
I find that hard to believe! Perhaps you have a different standard of "special" to the rest of us? It's great seeing you back in the saddle with without the pressures of a business.

I have been following this technique since you posted it the first time years ago...and then went it and buried it in a ginormous huge long thread. This is a great method folks, and it works like a champ. Do be sure that the plate with the pin in it is square to the bit and secure and stable. The method eliminates the effect of bit wobble....as long as your work piece doesn't wobble too. Don't ask me how I know.... SR
RestorationAD
Already thinking about painting the SG body white and hitting it with a batch of clear lacquer I have that has been in the jar so long it yellowed. And I know said I wouldn't paint it.

RestorationAD
So if anyone remembers the Hand of Doom build... during the build the HOD threw itself off the bench and broke one of the horns. I managed to find all the pieces and fix it. To continue with the broken horn mojo I decided I didn't like what I did with the recessed strap button in the horn. So time to plug the hole. Ugly. But it cleaned up nice.
