Guest Litchfield Custom Gutars
One last pic of the paul Back to the biatch http://fullservesite.com//lcgs/Misc%20pics/scb4.jpg http://fullservesite.com//lcgs/Misc%20pics/scb5.jpg http://fullservesite.com//lcgs/Misc%20pics/scb6.jpg My V When I scored some quilt on the bay for $6, I then realized how much too small it was. Wes suggested doing a Bc Rich style quilt top. http://fullservesite.com//lcgs/Misc%20pics/v1.jpg http://fullservesite.com//lcgs/Misc%20pics/v2.jpg http://fullservesite.com//lcgs/Misc%20pics/v3.jpg http://fullservesite.com//lcgs/Misc%20pics/v4.jpg And I will get some more of the parts for this. GregP
You're a braver man than I. The chiselling of that neck, and that veneer insert are testament to that fact.
Guest Litchfield Custom Gutars
Thank you for the compliments. Brian, that spindle sander is my favorite tool. Greg, that isnt chiseling! It took me an hour and a half to do that with a jigsaw! I dont even wanna try a chisel. Thank you fo thinking I was becoming a beefy man Now the Singlecut update as promised. Nearly life sized! http://fullservesite.com//lcgs/Carrie/sc2.jpg http://fullservesite.com//lcgs/Carrie/sc3.jpg http://fullservesite.com//lcgs/Carrie/sc4.jpg http://fullservesite.com//lcgs/Carrie/sc5.jpg http://fullservesite.com//lcgs/Carrie/sc6.jpg http://fullservesite.com//lcgs/Carrie/Quilt.jpg
GregP
Heheheh! A jigsaw was NOT the tool I expected! You may not be a beefy man, but you are still a more patient man than I! <laff> I'm funny in that I would have spent a week looking for a bandsaw to rough out the neck with, rather than simply spend a day of labour with a jigsaw. If you haven't used the microplane rasp yet, I suspect it may be a good friend to you. ;-) (not for THAT stage... hell no! But in the near future...) Guest Litchfield Custom Gutars
Well, patience.....um....lighter fluid was almost my tool of choice. I just got pissed that I wasnt getting anything done, and the belt sander wasnt doing much....no bandsaw yet.....AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH! Never again! I am Seriously, this purpleheart is so dense. It has so far killed: 1 tablesaw 2 jigsaw blades 1 pound of patience 2 or 3 craploads of sandpaper 1 spokeshave And when I was cutting it with the jigsaw, it damn near caught fire. Beggining to be more trouble than its worth. But then I love it for its color, stability, strength, and tone I guess we have a love-hate thing goin on. StreamLine
that V's got one of the weirdest headstocks i've ever seen good job on originality though!
Devon Headen
I'm with you on that purpleheart rant. Mine actually did catch fire on the tablesaw. I thought a rat had chewed on your neck or something. You don't have a bandsaw? All this time you've built these guitars with a jigsaw? I guess that's making me a little more optimistic

Guest Litchfield Custom Gutars
The V: The neck was a tiesco with a big strat style, drilled for 9 tuners. made it 3+3. Perry, no I still have some touching up left. and dyeing it blue (the quilt).
krazyderek
Litch, can you explain what your doing here with this one ??? Are you leaving it like that?? indeed.... one usualy covers the entire top with a "top"
krazyderek
and yes.... purple heart is a bastard to work with... (buying some freud blades soon) but once you get it how you want it it's amazing wood, hard, stable, doesn't need finish... just amazing! JohnJohn
What about doing a blackburst on the V so all you see is the maple? We used to call purple heart the blade killer Nice work, can't wait to see the end results
balooka
Litchfield, I usualy really like your guitars, but this V looks weird and odd. Are you only gonna stain the quilt? Seems (might be the pic) like the quilt isnt centered. Hope you'll post more pics when you're done cause I do wanna see what it turned into Cheers, JP
Guest Litchfield Custom Gutars
Well, it isnt centered. I was waiting for someone to notice. When the knobs and hardware are in place, it wont look so off
