Prostheta
What was your finishing technique for the neck? I may oil my eight-string's wenge/zebrano neck soon.
Xanthus
It's been one of my favorite designs ever since you built the first one. You, sir, get the horns
hooglebug
thanks everyone bassisgreat - heres a pic of the inlay. im a bit disappointed with it as it was better than this but i had to redo some of it you can also see the heavy shaping of the fretboard edge in this pic. i read and saw a pic of a tyler guitar and it sounded good so thats how i do it. prostheta - its just a good few coats of danish oil. it shines up really well someone somewhere down the line wanted to know how much it weighed when it was finished - according to my bathroom scales its about 8.5 - 9 pounds
Bygde
Didn't think porn was legal on PG :D This should be GOTM!
anderekel
I LOVE that blue. It's very beautiful guitar. I can see where the inlay be a little off, like to much space around it or whatever, but I think it still looks awesome and even a foot away or so I wouldn't think you'd notice, except that you know it's there, I really like it. Great job and I second gotm
Mr_Buttman
This is realy great, pal! Wel done!!!
black_labb
i love the look of the back of that guitar, and ive always wanted to make an all wenge neck like this. im not a huge fan of figured maple, but you still did a great job on the front. it wasnt until i looked at the shot of the back that i really apreciated the build. good job on a great build. biliousfrog
YAY!!!...it's finished! That neck looks lovely and so does the blue top The only thing I'm not so keen on is the orangeness of the body with the blue top but I imagine that it's much better in the flesh. Thank the lord for sunny February days, they make for great outdoor guitar pics
Bassisgreat
I just have to say again that this thing turned out beautifully! How does it play?
hooglebug
thanks frog. yeah the orange isnt so glaring as it is in the pics. bassisgreat - it feels really nice to play, my best by a long way. and i love the sounds it makes too, a real versatile range
stereordinary
Mmmm... Sexy. I'm not normally into PRS-inspired guitars, but this one I like. A lot. Kudos.
hooglebug
i made a case for it. its a nice snug fit. the handle could do to be a little more towards the middle but cant be helped now - its riveted on. made a little plate to go on the front too with my logo and the guitar name and number. ps - there isnt a massive dip in it like the third thumbnail seems to show. camera trickery
Bassisgreat
niiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiice!!! Definitely first class work, man! Care to share how you made the case? I'm planning to build somthing very similar for my bass.
al heeley
http://projectguitar.ibforums.com/index.ph...734&hl=case Sadly none of the links to the pics work any more I made a case for a strat build last year and lt cost me about £80 in all - wich I'd spent £30 and got one on ebay! Good practice I suppose...

Bassisgreat
I swear I was searching high and low for that tutorial on PG and talkbass yesterday and couldn't find it! I don't know why... I REALLY wish the pics worked! Oh well, it's detailed enough that I think I'll get a good product out of it. Thanks!!
Xanthus
Maybe we could talk to Russ and see if he still has the pics? I'm going to need to make one for my V (not stock V size/shape, 25" scale) and the extra help would be awesome. On topic: Hooglebug FTW. That case is just as appealing as the guitar is. PS. Still BareKnuckles, I assume. What models?
hooglebug
mississippi queen and nailbomb. gorgeous sounding. can get some really smooth almost acousticy sounds from the neck with the volume and tone turned down. yummy

hooglebug
thanks kenny. i used expanded polystyrene for the form fitting. the tutorial linked a few posts up is about all you're going to need really. there are some pics missing from the start, but theres some good ones at the back too. and the descriptions are easy to follow
