ScottR
The only thing I can see is the inlay, but yeah, just add a lilttle more like you did with hole if it's visible. SR
hooglebug
that inlay on the bridge is only layed on top to see what it would look like. that is covering the damage. but im going to see if i can just do a little as im thinking its a bit too much like that. so im going to try to find a way to just use a few petals or flowers to cover it up
mannym
Beautiful work Hooglebug.
westhemann
I think if you want the "branches" to cover up the tear out it might look better if it extended from the existing branch and ended up around the bridge instead of actually coming from the bridge? hooglebug
yeah i thought about that. im going to try just petals for now see what it looks like. and maybe burst it a little under the bridge to help further. i think it will be ok then. ScottR
I like the way you've added some balance and eye flow with the few falling petals below the bridge. Are you getting tempted to put any near the knobs? SR
hooglebug
no i think im done with petals now. maybe. hehe. yeah i think thats it.

hooglebug
got the fretboard on and the neck shaped heres the back. the back plate isnt glued on yet - will have to wait for that to be on before finishing up the neck heel
hooglebug
all ready for sanding now. heres a shot showing the treble side to see the veneers and heres the neck/body transition obviously LOTS of sanding to do!
RestorationAD
I wasn't sold on this when you started... I think I am coming around. I can see where you are going with it now. Looks good... have fun sanding! <snicker>
hooglebug
well sanding has cost me a few very stingy ouchy moments on my fingers - which are now also stained pink!! this is obviously not the final colour. there'll be transparent coats shot over this to make it more like the rose colour from the photoshop, then a kind of sunset thing making it a little darker at the bottom, then the burst. hooglebug
couple of sealer coats on. more colour coats on the front back and headstock next, then a cherry red on the mahogany (looks too brown next to the other colour), then more sealer, then burst, then clear coats. ScottR
Well the newpaper showing through the F-hole is throwing me off a bit . Seriously, it looks good enough to eat. It looks like cotton candy. Can't wait to see it with the toner coats and burst. This may be your best yet. SR
hooglebug
it doesnt look THIS red in real life. theres still some of the pink showing through.

hooglebug
nearly two and a half hours of scraping later and all the inlay is clear again. still have to scrape the edges of the wood and inside the f-holes (yikes), and will have to do most of it again after further colour coats as well.
