  1. YES YES YES! that would be awesome. anyways, lookin good...
  2. that thing is beautiful. that walnut top is just amazing...since i first saw one of the dragonflys i was blown away, this one is just in another realm...beautiful.
  3. after seeing that, the only thing i said was...wow... beautiful inlay, very nice looking, and some great attention to detail there. everything looks amazing.
  4. that should answer ^^ question. that thing is pretty nice looking. like the whole vibe of the celtic dragons and natural finish. but you might wanna set up your floyd to parallel with the body...
  5. that is very slick. i like it a lot...definately looks like something you'd see some hippy draw on a strat in the early 70's...very cool.
  6. wow...very very nice for a first build...hell, very nice for any build...
  7. it's probably 3 pieces, but if this is one of the made in japan, early 90's or 80's squiers, you got a pretty good one.
  8. you'd just be making an RG with a vine inlay...
  9. i think with the explorer it's just the banana headstock, same shape on either model(the gibby or epi...). there might be a tiny bit of a difference(size, and possibly a tiny reshape, just so it's not exactly the same), but overall the gibby and epi headstock look the same.
  10. calm down dude, it's not a big deal... and yeah, you're going to have to reseal those spots, if you dont when you paint you'll see the wood grain through the paint, and that wont be good. not only that, it'll allow moisture to get into the dried wood, and allow it to expand a bit. but i think for the most part, the paint will take care of sealing the wood .
  11. your kid is VERY lucky...even though i'm not into the whole BC Rich, pointy, stab you in the face guitars, that one is very classy. the finish, in my opinion, would look beter if it was either transparent black all over, or natural with just a hint of black around the edges...still very nice.
  12. if you've got a good hand, you could paint the body a solid color, and then just draw on the scales. i know you said you're no artist, but i do believe you could draw some scales onto a guitar...
  13. that looks like a very cool guitar...i kinda like that "cuttingboard" top...just something you never see on anything other than...well..cutting boards. keep up the good progress...i can't wait to see this thing finished.
  14. i'm digging that blue burst...looks really good...
  15. that's all they do jammy, gibson used it as the block material on the es-137's, except they called it something different...i forget what it was called, but i looked it up, and it meant balsa wood
  16. that cab looks nice, but i'm sitting here drooling over that LP copy...beautiful finish...
  17. hAHA.. Is that sarcasm?? Hahhaa.. The body shape is not even cut so how can it be blocky? ← yes, that was sarcasm...that's why i asked what the actual body shape was going to be when it was finished...
  18. i dunno...it looks a little blocky to me... but yeah...looking good...what model is it going to be based off when it's all done?
  19. dude, that's really slick...loooks great...can't wait to see it finished.
  20. very slick...what's going on with the rest of the project though?
  21. my reccomendation for stripping the finish is to go to home depot, there's this stuff that's in an orange/copper colored bucket. it's called "EZ strip" or "Strip EZ", can't remember which one. Apply it with a plastic scraper, all over the body, toss it in a garbage bag for 1/2 an hour, then scrape all the goo off... you can scrounge ebay for parts, or like you said, just buy another whole new system(this would be my choice) and keep the one you have now as parts. Since this thing isn't going to be holding its value(due to painting, and replacement parts) i'd just replace the pickup that doesn't work, and keep the other 2, unless you're not happy with the sound. Should be a fun project though...good luck
  22. that thing is absolutely rediculous. i dont mean to sound like a jerk, but i never understood wha t point of having a bass with more than 5 strings was...it's just overkill to me. but other than the complaint of the strings, it looks great! very sweet looking bass, but i'd much rather see the same thing in a 4 or 5 string verion. looks like quality solid work though, and i love the pickup covers matching the neck laminations...pretty sweet deal.
  23. very nice dude...the whole thing looks great
  24. check out www.reranch.com they've got a step by step instruction there that's fool proof...i used their clear when i was refinishing my jackson, and by following those steps, it came out pretty darn good. great site, and they might even have the color of paint you need.
