  1. best bet is to use acetone or MEK, wipe down and immediately spray. other wise you are peein in the wind so to speak. same with glue ups with Coco. Just my observance. I can't even work with it anymore due to it's allergic reactions I get from the oils and dust. MK
  2. Thanks Doug. These vector and raster settings translate easily. I appreciate the starting place. I use Corel. BTW I saw that someone posted they had done shell? I have found anything over .020 does not cut well in a laser, It melts and the edges suck. No matter what speed and power settings we have tried? even Epilog suggest .010 for shell. just to thimn for good inlays in my opinion so looking for other options. The acrylics may be the way? Thanks again, Mike
  3. Very Nice Doug, BTW, how many layers were used in your layout, what was the thickness of the pearloid. what were your vector settings . (power and speed) as well as your raster settings? Also what raster settings did you use on the fretboard before routing? and what laser were you using? I have access to an epilog 45watt. 12x24 Thanks Mike
  4. Seems to me that you might now understand why I am working with a reso cone for the acoustic aspect. MK
  5. Maybe because you already know the answer.....???? >snip img < +1, maybe add some more time as well
  6. Drak, I love both the gold and the black hardware. Both have there place and look great. I lately have been thinking on mix the two together. Like use the black buttons on the gold tuners with the black inserts, or the black studs mixed with gold bridge and black saddles and so forth. Basically mix up two sets in a way to compliment both. Mike
  7. + 1 on DePaul. That would be my suggestion as well MK

  11. Hello Darksonic and welcome to PG. Based on your questions, I think maybe a little study on your part may help you. This will then give you a better understanding of the processes in guitar building and allow you to formulate questions that can be answered in a manner befitting the question. First may I suggest that you check out some of the tutorials on PGs site. As well as try the search function. An excellent book on this, is "Make your own electric guitar" , By Melvin Hiscock, who btw is a member here. Also check out the free info at Stewmac.com link Hopefully then you will be able to understand that your questions now seem to be very open to subjective thinking as to wood types and also basic knowledge of guitar parts and there function. I hope this will help on the right path, MK
  12. How much are you willing to pay for GOOD WOOD that thick and book matched? I have some like it and it;s from the same billet as what is on the BP bass
  13. With an attitude in your sig about your whereabouts "wouldn't you like to know" and being a newbie, It's hard to give you advice since you seem to know where you are and everything else. Now as far as your problem. Based on your post .your are painting this black. So filling with new wood should not be a problem . but your next response says something different? If that is the case then consider filling with wood as suggested and doing a black burst on the top to cover the problem. Now , Welcome to PG and please be more considerate in your sig as to who you are. MK
  14. Storage is not really an issue with mine as it is only takes up about a 30"x20"x6" space when disassembled. it easily stores in a top shelf or other upper location out of the way.
  15. I guess no one searched for this one I made? It will do compound radius as well. Link to radius jig MK
  16. Matt, Have you tried using a triangle file on the slots before setting the wire? There is a slight radius on the fret to the tang and this may cause it not to seat properly. I always use a triangle file on the slots to add some space for this and have had no problem. Just my .02 cents worth Mike
  17. I've got the GO555 14" with riser and have been very happy with it. The bearings they supply for the guides are crap but NAPA Auto has been able to match them and it's not a problem. Just my .02cents MK
  18. pearloid is a plastic and yes it will take dye, unlike shell or pearl. MK

  21. John, Check out Woodcraft. They have a Steel City unit on sale this month for $229.00. A friend just picked one up and it seems to work quite well. It also has washable filters and a 5 year warranty. Just my .02 cents. Mike Thanks, buddy. We have a Woodcraft store in St. Louis, too. No problem my friend, MK
