hyunsu, I like the look of that brown ebony top. It indeed looks like a planet! What kind of hardware are you using on this one! I think that black will be the best since it won't take attention from the wood, and it will look right at home with the streaks on that ebony. Nice work once again.

Hyunsu -

Beautiful work as usual! I was not aware that beech had similar properties as hard maple - I'll have to check into getting some. I love hard maple guitars.

I think most people will suggest combining it with a darker sounding wood to balance it out but I personally don't think it's needed. I guess it depends on the purpose of the instrument but I've found that a "bright" guitar can still be made to sound dark pretty easily with EQ and other effects. It's actually been my experience that it's very difficult to brighten up a dark sounding wood using EQ but is easy to darken a bright sounding wood. I don't know exactly why that is but it does seem to hold true (at least for my gear). The reason why I like to brighten the signal is that it seems to make a big diffference in improving/helping distortion if the signal going in is bright. I guess it's all subjective but I keep seeing that many people consider bright a bad thing. Sorry for the rant.

I wish you could set up a gallery of pics somewhere. I don't mind reading the dialog but it would also be nice just to see the pics with no text since you have so many beautiful guitars. If you ever set something like that up - please let us know.

daveq.. thank..

dark sound is easy for make bright sound?

or Bright Sound is easy for dark sound?

this is very import..

my think is worm & Dark sound is easy to EQ, but Bright tone is difficult to EQ..

i think this rule is really important.. for guitar making.. thank.. Daveq..

This is just from my experience but it seems much easier for me to make a bright guitar sound dark by scooping the EQ AFTER the preamp/distortion. Scooping the EQ before the preamp/distortion doesn't sound very good to me.

I have not had much luck making a dark sounding guitar (mahagony,...) brighter by using EQ - at least not without adding a bunch of unwanted noise. Even then, the attack and harmonics just don't seem to be as good as my maple guitars.

Again, this is just my opinion. I personally prefer having a nice bright sounding guitar (with a strong/wide freq response at least from the mid freq's and up) and then make it sound darker after the signal has been run through the effects.

I like to play hard rock and metal (satch, vai, Randy Rhoads, George Lynch, ...) type music. This may not be a good setup for more mellow music though.
