mdw3332
Actually, I just wanted to know how long I should age it before I can burn it.
fryovanni
Burning Cocobolo can produce highly toxic fumes. Best send it to me so I can dispose of it in a safe manner. Great set! I love the way the figure bookmatches. Great color also. Peace, Rich
jnewman
That just screams highly carved double cutaway to me... but that's just me . That looks WAY better than most of the cocobolo I've seen.
DannoG
Nice score Marty! You'll figure out a scheme that makes sense. Think what kind of neck/back wood would be complimentary.
Pr3Va1L
WHOA!!! VERY nice wood! I always liked the look of cocobolo and other cool rosewoods... but this one is just outstanding!

Daniel Sorbera
eh, it's ok. I like my cocobolo real dark with deep red swirls. That one has too much yellow and is to bright for my tastes. It's still a pretty nice peice though. bigdguitars
wow carved top for sure... thats some impressive stuff. There is a piece at my wood shop that is big enough to bookmatch maybe I have to take a second look now.
erikbojerik
I have 3 sets like that sitting in my garage...but slightly thinner....maybe I should sell one set and knock another 10% off my bandsaw debt I got my 3 sets and a left-over piece 36" X 7" from a single plank, which cost me only 25% more than your top set. It will carve, but it is too thin for a classic LP-type carve. Nice wood, though.

skibum5545
Carved top, 1/8" maple pinstripe, wenge back, either wenge or cocobolo neck, with a smooth heel transition, like on this beauty! By the way, good score!

javacody
Is Cocobolo the kind that people can have dangerous allergic reactions to very easily? Do you guys wear respirators and whatnot to work with it?
Drak
It's beautiful Marty, but CB is a hard mistress to woo, she cost me 5 years of refinishes on 5 CB guitars. What kind of finish did you have in mind for it? Regular lacquer is a no-go with that stuff, tell me what you had in mind and I'll tell you my experiences (which are long) with finishing it. Beautiful wood tho. And Godin hasn't worked with CB long enough to know that it all darkens over time, and if you start out with darker reds, in 2-4 years it will be so dark you almost won't be able to see it anymore, so you absolutely picked the right color for your pieces. mdw3332
Drak, I really haven't thought too much about what to do with it - I didn't really figure on winning the thing. Any and all advice is welcome. I'm also in the process of setting up my shop in the new house so I haven't done anything in a while. javacody, yes it can be pretty toxic - I've got some learning to do.. Thanks, Marty
