Pr3Va1L
Alright here we are... My first guitar with a custom design. Specs: - Mahogany body - Mahogany Carvin neck-through - Ebony fretboard - 4x2 headstock with Sperzels - SD Jazz(neck) and Screamin' Demon(bridge) - Schaller piezo tune-o-matic Here's the first pic ever taken (to see what it looks like ) It's only rough cut... I know it looks bad, I didn't have my neck when i cut the body (was at school...) Here's what it'll look like when I recut the upper horn... (in photoshop) Anyways, i ran into my first problem(s?) (as I just received my bridge today...) I need to recess the bridge... But I just saw that there's no little screw slots on it!! I tought it would have them and that's how I was gonna change the height... Now how can I get this to work? I guess i'll have to remove the strings to change the height? Also, anyone know what size drill bit I need to make the holes for the bridge?? There's nowhere where it's written : / Anyways, thanks I'll post my progress as soon as I make some

thegarehanman
Just in case anyone didn't notice, he asked "what's that wire coming out of the bridge." By the way, don't quote whole posts w/ the pictures please. I takes up so much space. Anyhow, I'm assuming it's a piezo bridge or something of the sort. peace, russ PS those frets are huge. Are they extra ultra jumbos or something? Edited September 20, 2005 by thegarehanman
marksound
- Schaller piezo tune-o-matic And there you are.
Strange Fruit
I like it, it looks like a Scheter UltraCure and a Manson Bomber had a passionate night of love
thegarehanman
schecter makes piezos?! I wish I had known that. I hated soldering the 6 leads and 6 grounds on the LR Baggs piezo TOM bridge to their summing board.
Pr3Va1L
BTW, no the frets aren't huge... I just can't take a picture that's in focus Anyone could help me out for the bridge problems? Thanks...
mailman
i think the top of the guitar is huge looks very uncomfortable
javacody
You're missing the studs or whatever they're called? Where did you get the bridge? I'd go back to whomever sold it to you and get the hardware that it should have had.
Mickguard
And besides, that looks like it's just the bridge piece of a tunamatic set --you need the tailpiece too. I get the feeling this isn't the bridge you need...
eddiewarlock
Those carvin necks are gorgeous, but the lack of neck angle on them...you could cut it, if my memory serves me well, those necks are 1.7" thick, now, you run the risk of ruining that birdge, if i was you, I'd go for a hardtail kinda bridge

Guitarfrenzy
I hope the bridge isn't going to have that much angle on it, and that you just placed it there for the picture, because it would be pretty bad off if it was done that way. I'd go back to whomever sold it to you and get the hardware that it should have had. ← well he must have the studs or else he wouldnt know he is going to have problems with adjusting the height. i reckon you could cut slots on the top of the posts so you can adjust it from the top with a flathead. i quite like the shape, its sort of like matt belameys guitars
Pr3Va1L
I have the studs... And it'll make it string-through (for wich I have the ferrules...) My brige came from AllParts and therefore dosen't have any instructions on it... So I want to know what size the stud holes need to me. And don't worry about all the problems you talked about, i know all of them... That pic was just to see what it might look like I'm gonna also gonna recut the upper horn like This
thegarehanman
Take out your drill bits, hold some up to the stud until you find one that's the diameter of the stud(minus the knurling). That's how big you need to drill the hole. Seriously...kind of an obvious solution there. peace, russ Edited September 22, 2005 by thegarehanman

GuitarGuy
Vernier Calipers or a dial caliper is great for getting an exact measure of a hole size. (no test fitting necessary) They're cheap too. You can get a decent set for 15-30$
Pr3Va1L
I think i'm gonna get my brother to measure it at school (engeneering). He says they got a micrometer, so I should get a pretty accurate mesasure
CudBucket
You've got to shrink that upper front bout.
Pr3Va1L
I know... As i said, I didn't have the neck when I cut the wings, so I couldn't know what it'd look like... I'm gonna cut it again like this
Mickguard
No it's that big fat upper 'horn' ...can't believe that's going to be at all comfortable to play and it looks all lopsided, given the hamster foot you have for the lower horn....how about just repeating the lower horn on the upper side? That's look pretty cool, if you keep them going in the same direction
