hooglebug
stained with a sealer coat on. im not sure if i like it or not. obviously with the clear coat on it'll look deeper. i guess i shall just have to see and if i dont like it, out with the sand paper! its a kind of faded abalone colour i guess. theres some streaks of red in there, hard to see on the pics tho
Daniel Sorbera
That color is pretty ugly IMHO I think you should try again. Doesn't do justice to the rest of the guitar.
ngaa
That color is pretty ugly IMHO I think you should try again. Doesn't do justice to the rest of the guitar. I agree, your other desiree colour was much better. Though the quality of the work is awesome.
killemall8
i also agree. i think you should do it a deep red color. but thats just me

hooglebug
ahhhhh thats better. a tropical lagoon look hehe theres some places in a couple of the pics that looks like bare wood for some reason, but its not. just the light i guess

hooglebug
not much to report really. the body needs another few coats then i can glue the neck in and try get it finished. once i can afford the pickups that is! heres the bdy hanging up and looking much more blue than it actually is, and the mirror shine neck after having some oil thanks to wez and killemalls advice. the white in the grain is just flash
spacecowboy
So pro man, great job cant wait 2 see the finished product!
jmrentis
Great looking stuff! I love the color blue you got, I actually thought the first color was nice, just needed a little more to it, but the second color is great. Also its a cool combo with that wenge neck, contrast yet it fits so well. Once again, very nice build and can't wait to see that fully assembled. alysum
hooglebug> how did you manage to get a perfect straight blue stain line before the natural maple binding ? everytime I try something like that the stain likes to sink into the wood and it never achieves a straight line
hooglebug
mask off the bit you're staining and spray or brush some clear coat onto the bit you dont want staining, that way the stain wont creep onto it
hooglebug
im waiting for a quote on engraved pickups covers (and then wait till i can afford to buy the pickups) and then i can get this one finished finally. heres some pics
hooglebug
well teh quote for the engraved covers was so high just for transfering the drawings to dxf format so i downloaded an autocad program and learnt how to do it and did it myself. so im still waiting for the bridge pup but got the neck one this morning and wired it in. heres a sneaky peak
Xanthus
Looks really sharp! I'd love to see some more pics, especially of the finish and hardware, it's good! Is this a commission or something for yourself?

hooglebug
thanks! the real colour of it is somewhere between the full pic and the thumbnails. i love the way the bridge pup came out, and it sounds gorgeous too. roll the tone and volume off and theres an almost acoustic sound to it. yum
Bassisgreat
That's a beautiful guitar!! Great design, and I especially dig the headstock. I see that you have an eye inlay on the fretboard as well as a nice headstock inlay. I can't find any detailed pics in the thread of the one on the board; would you mind sharing?
