  1. I've never been able to find RED cheddar just aged yellow.... dunno how this will take a finish tho'..... (sounds like a bit of a salad to me..... cherry, walnut & cheddar!) oh sorry - you meant CEDAR...
  2. see - thats what i'm talking about..... Blackstar = , Tiny Terror = - that amp was never gonna show your guitars at their full potential. my point was they gave them the review that they deserved & described the sound - but then they did the THOSE soundbites from which you can't HEAR what they're talking about - kinda contradictory to me..... and you only bought ONE mag? I'd have bought one to put away in a glass case never again to be touched by human hands, one to read, one each for ALL of my family, one each for ALL of my friends, one each for the guitar's buyers (that would be a nice touch), one each for my children, one each for my potential grandchildren......... lol well done all the same!!
  3. the sound clips don't do the guitars justice!!! and I KNOW it's because of the AMP they've used (Orange Tiny Terror- this amp sounds like a bull farting thru a straw!!!) coz I've heard Jadens guitars in other contexts & they sound fantastic plus how far wrong can you go with the pickups that Mr Satriani uses? I'm sorry - but why use this amp? I mean most people that buy Jadens guitars are going to use a full stack!! Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but Jaden - you need to kick their ar*ses at Guitarist mag!!!! now if they'd used that Peavey Vyper that they've reviewed - then we'd be talkin'!!!!
  4. my only gripe..... the 7th & 8th tuners could have been a smidgen further north.... just a minor gripe tho' (imho) :notworthy
  5. me too.... kind of like "tiger-eye" on steroids !!! it's orange - but without looking like Dale Winton or David Dickinson (or George Hamilton for US members!) - google them
  6. i'd always use a truss rod - no matter what wood used..... you can't adjust the neck for humidity/temperature/string gauge without one.... if you went up in a light aircraft without a parachute & the engine failed..... - i'd rather have one & not need it than need it & not have one.
  7. well dang!!! if it's good enough fer Marty Friedman it's good enough for me!!! looks like a tw*t to re-fret tho'!!!! I can just see the questions now.... "Is plastic a good 'tonewood'?" "How do different plastics affect tone?" "How do I adjust the truss-rod-thingy?" "I'd like to rout it for a Floyd Rose - is this possible?"
  8. don't worry...jus'me being pedantic.... thru' me fer a sec tho'
  9. May 4th!!????!! f*ck I've missed the KISS gig i was going to on MAY 2nd...... I thought it was only April!!!!
  10. i thought you were building a guitar not an aeroplane ?
  11. 1985 I believe. 1985 Catalog i have this catalog!!
  12. another variable that no-one has mentioned is how the magnetic pull of the pickups can affect the frequency at which the string vibrates.... let's see somebody factor that in too.... lol
  13. i'd say that if it's a metal top most probably it's a chemical etch. think about the theory of Printed Circuit Board etching and you may be along the right lines. it goes like this.... spray/dip a photosensitive coating on top of the metal. add a "mask" /reticle over the top expose to UV light remove the exposed photosensitive coating in a chemical bath etch the metal back in another chemical bath expose the rest of the photosensive coating to UV remove the remainder of the photosensitive material in a chemical bath easy-peasy-lemon-squeezy! if anyone says that you can't get the detail.... I used to work in the Semiconductor industry & we were etching tracks to 0.25μm (yes 0.25 MICRON) - I believe the industry can now hit below 0.15μm ( a human hair is about 50μm in diameter)
  14. Yay!!! KISS - gonna see'em 2nd May !!! - that's what gave the inspiration for my forthcoming Iceman build - just gotta get this damn strat finished 1st...lol
  15. in my opinion it may be detrimental as the CF can flex a little but if it's filled it may "rupture" the tube
