  1. I hate it when people make pretty workbenches... but only because I'm jealous. looks very nice and tidy, good job. I should have thought of height adjust for my bench because even tho it's 34" tall... I freq find it's not tall enough and my back really bothers me. Something to consider for next time. cheers
  2. wow, you have good taste. I think that inlay just looks fantastic against the monotone body/hardware. and satin - love it. awesome work as always.
  3. that's the mythbusters guy? love them. pretty cool. thanks for sharing!
  4. you can get a replacement preamp on evilbay/amazon/dhgate/alliedexpress for $16 or so. You might have to make a small cut depending on the size, but this would look original, preserve any value, and be more functional. Just sayin. I bought a classical (ibanez exotic series) a while back and the eq was having issues... bought a fishman knockoff on allied and it's very nice. Sounds great, has a tuner, and was pretty easy to install. barring that... go on evilbay and for $10 you can get a headstock veneer. cut to size, screw on. here's one under $5 https://www.ebay.com/itm/Acoustic-Guitar-Passive-Volume-Control-EQ-Equalizer-Preamp-Amplifier-Pickup/114281841862?hash=item1a9bba84c6:g:I4AAAOSwOkle-cZr another for $13 https://www.ebay.com/itm/LC-4-4-Band-Acoustic-Guitar-Pickup-Preamp-EQ-LCD-Tuner-System-Equalizer-H1/124292499913?hash=item1cf06909c9:g:PHMAAOSwfD9fLMMo
  5. if you find someone... def report back. I'm intrigued. Never even thought of it. Wouldn't be that hard to even do with some foam, a zipper, some cloth and a sewing machine. then again, you can get some pretty nice one's for $50. def let us know what you find!
  6. I am going to have to branch out and build something like that at some point... I imagine it would make me a more well rounded builder. perhaps a banjo guitar someday!
  7. talk about willing wood into guitars. some lovely curves there. spirit of diy is strong in this one. respect.
  8. the strat looks great... the les paul even greaterer look fwd to seeing more of that. violin is not my thing, but it will be fun to see a bit of that as well. probably all sorts of good lessons for all there. keep on keepin' on.
  9. https://www.gibson.com/Guitar/ACCYBI462/Southern-Jumbo-Original/Vintage-Sunburst see above link. this is gibson's "original" jumbo... looks pretty similar to me. I don't think this size is all that common. anywho, glad to contribute!
  10. no acoustic expert... not even qualified as a novice, but this looks like somewhere between a dreadnought and jumbo. It actually looks like the "jumbo before the jumbo"? There was a jumbo that was bigger than what is now known as a jumbo, and it was used quite a bit in country and western... it was also called a jumbo. I believe the current 'jumbo' was just what gibson came up with to compete with whomever made the jumbo first (I think it was maybe guild?) This is all the ramblings and fragments of some article i read a while back... so take it for what it's worth.
  11. i have a terrible habbit of not following my own threads and rudely not responding to people... I hope you won't hold that against me because I really appreciate your comment! thank you sir!
  12. I see what you did there you clever devil! Also... i DO need to practice my scales so... I'm on it!
  13. nice color choice. I like the unusual combo of pickups/trem on a firebird. also a big fan of those tuners... might have to try those.
  14. offset sg with beauty maple... I like the cut of your jib.
  15. right on... I have never tried epoxy so it'd def be a learning experience. on this one I think I'm going to go satin (I know I have said that so many times and then right at the end I go gloss) not if epoxy is good for satin... but if it will give me jaco tone (hehe)... totally worth it. Would really like to do some sort of fish inlay with multiple different types of inlay material. Think that would be a fun learning experience. anywho, this one has just been sitting while I finish up my speakers and wrestle with the tele/paul headstock. I was orig going to do a pseudo archtop bridge, but changed my mind... got a hipshot D style. Thinking of doing piezo ribbons under 1/8" of wood following the strings. then a little mixing board... then into a piezo pre. just thoughts for now!
  16. looks great to me, def don't see any issues from here! having some finish struggles myself right now so I feel ya.
  17. wow, @Lumberjack that's a knock out finish. good job.
  18. not proud but have a lot of orange peel experience. you have to determine if this is buffable orange peel or orange peel that you need to take some 6/800 to and re-spray. at least... that has been my experience. if you just spray out of a can and don't sand between coats and get completely smooth, then go in for that final dusting of finish... just seems like you end up with a mess at the end. just one aholes humble experience, your mileage may vary.
  19. I'm gonna guess the polarity of the magnet/pole-piece is flipped on the e string (for the win).
  20. that is an interesting idea with the grooved thingy for the dremel. yes, ooh la la zebra.
  21. right on. single pass with a jeweler's saw... that's a pretty steady pass. nice work.
  22. right on... wasn't necc making comparison, just was surprised that it wasn't as complicated as I thought to assemble. I think for me... whatever I buy... not interested in doing the assembly. At least not at this point.
