ultraman
Hey guys. Im looking for some new shredding songs and artists to add to my repertoire. Got any suggestions of songs or artists? Try to be original here because my goal here is to discover more than just the regular common shredders. Thanks a bunch guys! Wasabi J
The ones I'm obligated to say: Yngwie Malmsteen Steve Vai Eddie van Halen Joe Satriani GEORGE LYNCH Little known guys: Jun Senoue Raxel van Schred (friend of mine in London... Craziest Indian shredder you ever heard. His alter ego is Parminder Gill, and funnily enough has a tame day job and all.)

ultraman
I recently just discovered Rusty Cooley. A guy I played a show with told me about him. I then checked his site out and was completely blown away. Thats what gave me the idea of starting this thread. I was kinda bored of always playing the same old yngwie, steve and satch you know? By the way, Paul gilbert is amazing!

ultraman
I just checked out Joe stump. Really good stuff. Sounds like Yngwie and Rising force but as a band. Edited December 15, 2004 by ultraman
ChrisDee
The late Shawn Lane will absolutely blow your mind, not just by his unrivaled guitar virtuosity but by the strentgth of his compositional skills notably the "powers of ten" album. now theres a jazz fusion shredder who can shred anyone out of the water, whilst maintaing his music has a melodic backbone
Gorecki
Frank Gambale Brett Garsed Scott Henderson I wouldn't call any of them shredders. Great players but not shredders. My little bro has recorded releases with all the above.

erikbojerik
John McLaughlin started it all with the Mahavishnu Orchestra....before shred became a genre, before there was speed metal, etc etc. If you can stay with Johnny Mac's time signatures & key changes, you can justifiably pat yourself on the back.
