  1. Alright, I'm looking for your opinions on a good booster pedal to drive the front-end of my tube amp... I find i'm lacking a bit of gain when I'm using my single-coil equipped guitar, and so I'd like to buy (or perhaps make??) a boost pedal... So what's good and not too costly out there? Thanks!
  2. hacker again, for sure... Damn kids with nothing better to do!
  3. I'd say they are really needed in a floyd rose context... Because you have 2 holes (lock nut) in that alredy weak area so it can really prove useful...
  4. I meant it's bound on top and on the bottom, instead of just the top!
  5. Bah he started finishing it... And anyways I'm pretty sure a lot of us would have alredy entirely destroyed it by now :D
  6. I went for Setch... I've always been a sucker for doublecuts! AND for great looking undyed tops (though they can look really bad when done with less taste than this!). Only thing I didn't like is the fact it's double bound... For Doeringer: Well, you did a real great job, but that body shape just does not work for me... verhoevenc: Actually, the turcoise just put me off It sound really dumb but this GOTM will have been winned on stupid details like this! Scott French: Bah let the others win! It looks really good though (except for the color ) Anyways, all the entrys were really great this month! It's wonderful to see the great projects that come out of this site!!!
  7. You are really the master of finishing, Drak... It's just really great! You should look for a finishing job in a custom shop or something!!
  8. Well, a volume pedal kinda does all of these with much more ease after all, so I guess some poeple might want to do away with the volume...
  9. You could always turn off the computer screen when you're playing guitar
  10. You could also (from GFS too) get a lipstick humbucker...
  11. Well, if your spruce top is in good shape, why not? You could try a real cool archtop with that!
  12. BTW, if you end up buying a BOSS GT-series, theres a little trick to get it to sound real good. It's called "4 cable method"... Basically, you run your guitar through the pedal, then, there's somewhere a function for external distortion or effects or whatever (in my GT-3 it's in OD/DS.) So you run that output to your amp's input. The amp's effect loop out goes into the external OD in and the pedal's output finally goes to the power-amp's IN (Read: effects loop in) Now, with the "effect chain" function, you can put any effect before or after your preamp... Useful if you want, say: Compressor, EQ, (preamp), reverb, delay, (poweramp) Hope it helps
  13. What about something like the TC electronic G-Major? All the effects (good ones) but no distortion effects... for 400$ I think...
  14. there was a conversation similar on another forum... What about using a 6 string (rail) bass pickup? Something like an active bartolini would prolly work...
  15. well, if they're too strong, you might wanna try to offset them... (I.E. 1 cube per 2 polepiece)
  16. I think you should do like Adamas does with their carbon guitars! Like wrap the top around the edges of the guitar... Then you could probably glue it easyer.
  17. no the bich is a 10 string bich, with the 4 top strings doubled and 4 tuners down the body. http://www.themusiczoo.com/BCRich10StringB...oa84029_PO.html
  18. bah... that emo stuff is just like every other fad... A few years ago everyone my age skateboarded, then they started snowboard, and now it's guitar (and emo-ness) It'll just go away in a year and be replaced by something worse (I know what you're all thinking... Can it be worst? I'm pretty sure it can, poeple are dumb enough lol) And all that time poeple make money off kids who want to be the same as everyone else at their school...
  19. Explorer, LP double cut... That's about it lol... Explorer because it has really great balance and it's SO comfortable to play... I usually sing too, so it kinda helps (ever realised most guitarists that play(ed) explorers are singers too? (I'm thinking Clapton and Hetfield right now)) Double cut, well... because it's just so sexy Like Setch's GOTM entry... Just beautiful!
  20. Well, as I said, unless you pay an extra, the regular 59' has only 2 conductors...
  21. well anyways you can't coil tap or put in parallel, etc, a duncan 59' so I guess that's about it lol
  22. How heavy is a valve junior? I mean, it could be used as a great practice amp! Just need to have a booster pedal to get it to distortion nicely I guess!
  23. high A? won't that, like... cut your fingers or something?
  24. why not try something like 26.5"? you could probably try to tune to normal tunings with it, too... And with bigger strings it should do B tuning without problems.
