Setch,I don't know why you aren't getting reported posts...my box is full every time I log on(only about once a week lately...real busy at work).

Even so,I still get to take down about 3 spams every time I'm here.

As far as top reporters...I see Avengersomethigorother and JMrentis alot, along with Protheta and GregP....So I think it may be a good time to add more mods...But you have to email Bryan or Scott....

I will start a topic in the mod section and see what gives.

I practically live here M-F 7:30AM-4:40PM CST. Really, I don't have a lot to do at work, so I check in a couple of times an hour. There are probably 5-6 boards I post on all the time. I'd be more than willing to do whatever I can to ease the workload of the "real" moderators.

Sincerely,

Avengersomethigorother :D

FWIW: I've noticed that things have been VERY civil lately. I even made note of it in the plywood build thread. I have a couple of snarky reasons that I'm just itching to add, but I'll play nice instead. :D

One of the current mods needs glasses too. I looked here a couple times during the night. Porn spam post clear to see in the off-topics section (but you could see it on the index page, since it was the latest post in the off-topics section). Next I see a mod is logged in. Next, mod leaves and same spam porn is still there.

Not going to name names, since I think he does a fine job in general.

Very likely could have been me... I leave my regularly-browsed sites up in Firefox in their own tabs; whenever I start my PC or re-start Firefox, the pages all load automatically; I'm not always actually here when I'm logged in. :D

[Edit: Or, maybe I was here and do need glasses. :P]

As with Dean, just wanted to say thanks for taking the time to erase all those reported spam threads and for maintaining a very nice forum. Obviously, not one of the enjoyable things in life, especially since its not a paying gig, so thanks guys for doing what you do and keeping this a great place to learn and share.

As for adding a few spam handlers, it sounds like a good idea and would at least lighten the load on everyone who has to stay on top of the problem. If need be I wouldn't mind helping as I am around all the time, but it sounds like there are plenty of voluteers already lined up. So I doubt you'll need anymore help, though if it is needed, I don't mind pitching in at all, just let me know. Again, thanks to all the mods and helpers of PG out there, you guys really make a big difference. J

NOT a PAYING GIG?

Drats, Foiled again!

This board is great. I even love when people ask the same questions over and over. It at least shows that people are trying to build guitars. So many people never try anything. I can put up with a lot as long as people give it a shot.

There are plenty of volunteers. Sounds like we need a lotto with all the volunteers. Count me in!

I must say I'm very much against the idea of money contribution. When I first joined I just kind of stumbled onto the site and started reading and all of a sudden I got interested in guitarbuilding. If it had cost me 2 bucks I probably would have never had a look, and I would probably never have built a guitar. It'd probably be better if people where in read-only for, say a week...maybe that would stop the spammers, and also get people to read up before asking basic questions.

Just an FYI, hopefully the new Mods , myself included are combating this problem with more aggression. It is also YOU the members that help with this as well, How you ask? By reporting the SPAM. I know that myself and the other Mods would like to take the time to thank each of you that report this problem each time you report, and most times we don't acknowledge your efforts. So to all of you that do and also have reported Spam, Thank you!!!!!!! and please continue with the reports. This is your forum, so speak up about the abuse.

Again

Thank you all, keep up the good work,

Sincerely,

Mike

It does actually send a report as if it were a PM, but you dont actually have to go to the effort of finding the mod's profile and pm-ing them; just click the report button thats at the bottom left of the post you want to report.

I think I've only reported a porn spam one time. I think it was a pretty bad one that shocked me, or something. Might have even been a picture in the posting. But maybe I didn't report it right, because I PM'ed Scott Rosenberger (figured an Admin would surely take care of it)

I don't know why, but after I PM'd him, I felt like I was being a "busy body" and I never wanted to report spam again.

Can't explain it. I certainly don't like the spam crap, especially the porn stuff. Some of the non-porn spam is funny, but the funniness goes way when they keep it up.

Now, with all the new mods (I agree we needed some more mods), I'm wondering which one's will let the power go to their amazingly handsome head (hey, come on ! it always happens ! Don't blame me just 'cause I'm mentioning it)
