Maiden69
From the above I voted Marshall, but I would love to get an MTS from Carvin. I said it a thousand times already here, they are so underrated (the MTS, I don't like the Legacy too much) it's not funny. For the price of a Marshall head you can get a halfstack and if you get them on sale a full stack. Just give me the Marshall free 1/2 and I will sell it to get a Carvin. Better start saving to see if I can get me even the MTS Combo by the time I get back!

thedoctor
No, just why are they not on the list? I would thinkg if this were a poll on ice cream flavors it would include double-chocolate fudge-swirl, peach-pecan and chunky-cherry yogurt. No, probly not the yogurt. Maiden69
Well in all fairness he could only post 10 choices, and since it's a freebie anyway who's gonna complain if you were offered one of those 10 for free
This is the reason why! Don't just read the lsat posts, read the whole thread, I have done that mistake a lot!
CudBucket
Just sold my Mark IV and ordered a Peavey JSX head and Genz Benz G-Flex cabinet.
allstellar
I have a jcm 800 dual channel (2205) and a half powre sinle channel jcm 800.... I love both of these amps... and voted marshall... but the best tone I ever had was a sovtek mig 60......(or was it a 50?) I played my new(er) strat through the 800 dual chnl straight the other day.... man what tone.. what drive..... and I've always been a metal humbucker /les paul guy.. but what a pair the strat and jcm800.... whew.. I'm still hearing it.......
bowser
What kind of sound will a Laney get? I did see that they were quite reasonable on the bay, but I don't know if they have as much gain as I would want, or the tone.

Sobot
I say Mesa, I have a mesa, and I love it... but I would rather have a diezel (along with my Mesa + a Marshall) PS. If you caught on, I'm a Tool fan

A Laney is somewhat of a cross between a Boogie and a Marshall. More gain than the Marshall with more bottom end too. If you are looking for insane gain then get a Laney "AOR" series. I have the 100 watt version. Very loud. The clean channel is very nice too. Kinda Fenderish. westhemann
NO amp has the gain i am looking for...i just chase down a SERIOUSLY hot amp, then add my own gain pedal to it(metal zone...ever since my zoom driver broke)and tweak until happy...i get a real "fear factory" kind of sound out of it.... right now my hot amp is a mode 4...i play it through the jcm 800 side....sparkling clean setting, then i add my stompbox
rokeros
Why Don't Anyone think outside the box! Everyone thinks of typical brands such as Fender and Mesa! Even though I quite like the Mesa Nomad 55 (Out of Production), For use live and gigs I would use a "Gabriel Grand 18 Combo/Head" and http://www.gabtone.com/ For practice at home etc I would use the "Torres Tiny Tone" Amp - Sweet Sound, Low Volume! (Won't Disturb Flat Neighbours in Hong Kong) Some sounds of the Tiny Tone: http://www.tonefrenzy.com/sound_files/tiny-tone1.mp3 http://www.tonefrenzy.com/sound_files/tiny-tone2.mp3 http://www.tonefrenzy.com/sound_files/tiny-tone2.mp3 Ash HK Edited October 1, 2005 by rokeros
x189player
You left out Tech21, so I didn't vote. That, plus a handful of weird old tube amps, and I'm all set.

lovekraft
So, how many voted Mesa but actually wanted something else? I see two on this page alone!
XPLOAD
i would definitely go for mesa, if i could afford it
jnewman
I *THINK* I voted for Mesa... I can't actually remember. I did actually want something else... and I'm about to get it . I have a Trainwreck Climax kit and two Fane alnico 10's on the way from Kendrick Amplifiers as we speak. They're calling it the "New Joy Zee Kit" now since the Climax was a limited run, but it's the same electronically.
unklmickey
okay, so i voted for peavey 'cause they're kinda like rodney -- they don't get no respect. but really, if we're gonna go dreamin' here, i'd want somethin' farther off the beaten path like a 'wreck or to the other extreme an egnater or a dumble.
