i don't understand why you have posted this cause those pics are photoshopped and you haven't built any guitars. I am just confused what you want because you claim to be showing us your creation but it does not exist.

Please enlighten me

Simon

Hey There simon i dont see what there is to be confused about...if you click on the links for the videos you will see the guitar being built and conceived in real time by a bunch of strangers that have just met or never met yet,Thought you might enjoy the process for connecting people and ideas in a fresh inspiring way which is what i do.The guitar will be finished and full documented on video at tom jones lab in the week 2 come.Hope this clears things up a bit.

Yeah i sound like a complete idiot. Sorry

I didn't look at the video and from the pictures it looks like the guitar control cavity goes through the guitar on one side but not on the other, same with the pickup cavities. I didn't realise that it was made from 2 shells. May i ask why you decided to paint it before gluing the two halves together.

Once again i'm sorry for leaping to conclusions, i've just never seen a guitar constructed like that before

i like a lot of the ideas on this guitar. although i do think it wouldnt have taken much effort to make an accurate mockup which would have shown it much better than some of the marketing.

the fact that the pickup spacing and scale length are completely out of whack on the main picture means the actual final guitar will look quite different to the mock-up

It looks cool and all! Yet I wonder why an innovative project leads to a guitar of lacking design (the flying V) Basically I won't even be able to play it sitting in a wheelchair. Also if I saw correct (my bad if I saw it wrong) it has a bolt on neck, which seems a little oldschool as opposed to the rest of the ideas. I think it's a bolt on because I spotted a square heel with 4 holes in the scene where the back is painted. Also I heard that a flying V tends to sound slightly nasal because of the lack of meat behind the bridge (I'm not sure if this is correct... so correct me if I'm wrong).

All in all I'm sure this thing will sound and play great, the reason I'm so critical is the way you people present it. As a down to earth Dutch guy, I can't help but look for problems when someone presents something in a semi unmodest way.

Cheers! Willem

PS. One last question: How do those frets work while bending? My logic somehow makes me feel the string will suddenly change note while bending..

This is not only a good point, but the V design itself is usually played with music that bends a lot. Good luck with re-frets.

That was the first thing I thought of when I first saw the True Temperament system advertised in one of my guitar mags.

I've got to agree with Wez here. The mockup is a total waste of space - a tailpiece where the bridge should be does little to inspire.

The only 'innovation' I can see is the two wood fretboard and that isn't something personally I'd want to replicate or see what it achieves add sound wise incomparison to an full ebony or maple board.

I really don't get the 4 pickups thing either.

actually the tailpiece is about where it should be - but in the mock up the 4th pickup is where the bridge should be.

looking at the inprogress stuff it seems the pickups are much closer together and the guitar is strung through the body behind the bridge. it looks loads better than the mockup

I seriously don't get what's so innovative?

The term innovation means a new way of doing something. It may refer to incremental, radical, and revolutionary changes in thinking, products, processes, or organizations. I a world where the internet is exploding the opportunities to discover new builders and giving builders that are already established in a particular niche the chance to have some fun a bust out of their mold. Gigliotti never made a flying v before,Tv jones pickups are not associated with rock,Most rock guitars are not designed to sound good in all types of music, this one will, There has never been a flying v with 4 pickups,I have never seen a half and half neck with those true temperament frets..The True temperament frets are an innovation in-itself. In closing we will all get together to film and play this creation that was put together by 7 people from around the world just because i asked them to.I f no one thinks they could learn any tips and tricks from some of these masters of their trade on a form thats dedicated to guitar building then i dont know what to say more.

Lets enjoy life and be happy for other peoples attempts to bring the fun back to music. See ya

Boy you guys are a tough crowd! :D

Here it all begins,This is my first time on one of these types of forms,This cut throat jumping the gun syndrome is typical. This is not a contest for me but an idea i had in my head and just excited it.I love people, i am a motivator in life and this falls into another category of what i love to do,Connecting people and ideas and then having a great meal together and some great laffs at the end.Have a great day.

Hey Wez Thanks,But tell me ..does it really matter...That is the original pic i first put together for all the guys involved to see the vibe..We then locked it down and the guitar will go from a picture idea to reality ...and the only difference will be that it will look even better and have a great story and amazing footage for us all to trip on.Tom tv jones is an awesome guy that makes awesome products,is an awesome luthier him self and plays up a storm as a player and developed a very successful business for him self. We can all learn and trip with each other. You seem like a really cool guy who makes awesome guitars.Im really a bass player and have been checking your stuff out in awe ......Have a great day and thanks for the input. Peace

Hi Willem First of all i wanted a flying v, Next this whole conception about holding a v sitting down is getting old for me.Ask anyone who owns a v and they will tell you the same thing ,YOU PUT THE V BETWEEN YOUR LEG AND CALF and guess what it puts your neck in the perfect playing position right up in your face. I wont say that i would want all my guitars to be like that but it always freaks me out when i see a guy trying to put it on his lap like a regular guitar and wondering why it keeps sliding down. For those who still think like that i will also be putting on a steinberger type flip out leg rest. BOLT ON ..Yes it is a bolt on because i wanted it that way,Most v guitars are not this one is,we will see how it sounds. In closing the fretting system kills, you could bend like you want or fry an egg on them. The guitar sounds more precise to the point that it punches out more percussion then ive ever heard. Hope this answers some of your questions. Have a great day

no it doesnt matter - i think seeing the original design idea is very interesting, but i personally wouldnt have had that as the main thing on your website/magazine. Maybe its not as important to everybody but the scale issue jumped out at me and made it look odd - wheras the actual real life design looks much better!!

and i have used a few TV jones pickups in my time so am well aware of tom's work, i also have a moody strap fwiw. I am certainly not knocking the people you have doing this work or the work itself.
