  1. GFS,not GHS...but GHS suck too imo
  2. I have only used them on bass(rotosound).I really didn't notice any extra fret wear, but I never played bass much.I no longer buy GFS strings though because they are extremely prone to weird buzzing and poor intonation.I think they are poorly wrapped
  3. Those designs would benefit the most from being neck through because of the slight heel connection. Looks like nice work.
  4. I enjoyed this one http://www.amazon.com/Mustaine-Heavy-Metal-Memoir-Dave/dp/0061714402/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1374072203&sr=1-1&keywords=dave+mustaine
  5. Red Rocks Basin!I love that place.Only been there once and it was full of teenagers in sleeping bags doing stuff I think their parent's would not have liked...but it was a nice hippy-style atmosphere...I think it was around '97
  6. Look closely.Observation answers most questions.Heel starts at fret 15..heel on PRS starts at...oh...17...actually better access.."heel from hell" don't seem so bad now,eh?
  7. Not as much as you think. The body shape of those PRS doublecuts prohibit moving the fingerboard too far over the body....your main obstruction is the body, not the heel. It's more of a "why bother removing more heel than the design requires".There is more to fret access than merely a heel carve
  8. Yeah,I don't listen to any of the corporate BS.Corporate bigwigs lie like politicians, and still people seem to believe them.
  9. Looks like flame maple, limba, macasar ebony, and kahya...I could easily be wrong on everything except the limba though because so many woods look similar in low res photos
  10. My experience with Korina puts it firmly in the "middle weight" category...lighter than sapelle, heavier than Spanish cedar...right about the same as an average piece of African Mahogany
  11. Exactly.I doubt it was Spanish Cedar.Nobody thinks Spanish Cedar smells worse than Longhi. Not unless you run away from cedar chests and candles as well.
  12. Very nice.Just goes to show that no matter how nice it is a finish always makes it better.
  13. I suspect he is trying to relay his experience, and that this is his own topic...but that he is about as incoherent as he can be. I "think" he is recommending against 1 meg pots...I would suspect "powerful" means trebly...but I am also not sure what he is talking about
  14. Pretty much.I have looked around over time and they all seem to be modeled after the same concept
  15. Also, when I try to "like" something,it says I have reached my quota for the day...that is nothing new though, because it has always done that for me Perhaps the machine in it's wisdom knows I am emotionally dead and just assumes I can't possibly like anything?
  16. I was looking at your guitars just recently.I remember the V.Nice examples of "natural" builds(or that is what I call it when the wood is visible and the pores are showing.) I am a big fan of the style. Oops.Just noticed this is not your first topic.Oh well it hardly matters. The sentiment is the same.
  17. Of course all guitars are welcome in GOTM.The body you made is certainly more complex than some entire guitars, but it IS true that winning GOTM on a non-scratch build is an uphill battle.
  18. I did it twice, and it takes more work.Only advantage I found is cosmetic, because it allows you to keep the body wood on the cutaway side of the neck
